Breccia Capraia is fragment marble — angular pieces of older stone cemented together under pressure, then quarried as a single block. The YG557 lot is graded Ultimate, Antolini's top tier: clean white background, dense burgundy and violet veining with the occasional graphite or gold strike, and movement that runs diagonally across the slab rather than chaotically.
“The honed finish keeps the white quiet while letting the burgundy stay saturated.”
The honed finish keeps the white quiet while letting the burgundy stay saturated. Polish would push the contrast too hard for most interiors; honed reads as composed rather than dramatic. It wants scale — full kitchen islands, bookmatched bath walls, fireplace surrounds where the eye can track the vein structure across a continuous run.
73″ × 130″ in 2cm, on the floor now. Material at this grade clears fast and isn't easily replaced. Visit the yard to walk the slab and confirm movement against your layout before committing.
